Devereux, Georgia, is an unincorporated community located in Hancock County. The place’s original name was Devereaux Station, but it was changed to Devereux in 1896. The town’s post office closed in 1959. Devereux is named for Samuel Devereaux, an early settler who was the founder of Devereux. Today, the town is a popular place to live and work.
Devereux Georgia offers residential treatment and mental health services for children with emotional and behavioral challenges. The organization is one of the largest nonprofits of its kind in the country, and operates fifteen treatment centers throughout the state. Youth at Devereux receive therapy in a secure and safe environment. Devereux Georgia also provides children with access to national experts in the field of mental health and addiction.
