Lakeside Georgia offers an abundance of outdoor activities that make it an ideal vacation spot. You can go fishing, paddle boarding, camping, or just relax and soak in the sights and sounds of the area. You can also rent a cabin or camp ground, or shop for unique items in unique shops. The most popular restaurants are on or near the lake, and the Sundance Grill is a popular breakfast spot that’s been in business for 20 years.
The Lakeside Vikings high school football team won three state championships – in 1970, 1972, and 1991. The team plays at Adams Memorial Stadium and Avondale Stadium. Its football team has received a GSPA “Superior” rating and offers football as a fourth period class. The Lakeside Transportation Department manages 945 buses and 850 drivers. The district transports 65,000 students every day. Nearly two-thirds of all students ride school buses.
Founded in 1964, Lakeside High School is part of the DeKalb County School System and serves the North Druid Hills and Northlake areas of DeKalb County. The high school opened its doors in 1964 and completed a $23 million renovation in summer 2012. Its addition includes a new classroom wing and a performing arts building.
Residents at Lakeside Georgia Apartments enjoy an active lifestyle near nature. The lakeside community features a 100-foot waterfall and 25 miles of shoreline. The community also features a playground and outdoor swimming pool. Six Flags is only a few miles away. This community also offers easy access to Interstate 20 and nearby grocery stores and shopping centers.
The school’s performance is below average in many areas. It is making less academic progress than last year despite having high test scores, meaning students are making smaller gains than students at similar schools. This may mean that some students are not receiving the support they need. It also has a high suspension rate, which reduces time for teaching.
The Atlanta Swing Era Dance Association presents an annual swing dance, and the Down South Swing offers dance lessons. This popular event is a great way to socialize with locals and enjoy a romantic evening. The dances will keep you moving for hours, and you can even learn a swing dance or two. If you’re not ready for a full-blown performance, you can always take a class and get a private lesson from an instructor.
Near Lake Lanier are the communities of Hartwell, Lavonia, and Royston. For food, try the Boat House Grill in Hartwell. Backstreet Bar-B-Que is another popular destination. The Hamilton Gardens at Lake Chatuge are home to over 3,000 plants and provide a beautiful, peaceful setting. If you’d prefer to camp nearby, you can check out Victoria Bryant State Park and Tugaloo State Park.
The Golf Club of Georgia is another popular course in Lakeside Georgia. The Georgia Amateur, US Open qualifiers, and Georgia PGA tournaments all have taken place here. The club also hosted Champions Tour events for six years. However, after sponsorship issues, the tour was no longer held at Lakeside. The club also no longer hosts a college tournament.
